Im Vergleich zum geschlossenzelligen Schaumstoff ist der retikulierte Polyurethan-Schaumstoff durchl\u00e4ssiger f\u00fcr Dampf und eine ausgezeichnete Wahl, wenn Weichheit und Verformbarkeit erforderlich sind. Retikulierter Schaum kann durch Wasser-Retikulierung oder Verspr\u00f6dungsbruch-Retikulierung erzeugt werden. Bei der Wasser-Retikulierung wird ein Block Schaumstoff in einen Vakuumdruckbeh\u00e4lter gegeben und eine kontrollierte Gasflamme entz\u00fcndet. Die Flamme durchdringt den Schaumstoff und schmilzt die Zellfenstermembran.
